KARACHI:

The Accountability Court has postponed the hearing on the application related to the jurisdiction in the reference related to defrauding the citizens of Rs3 billion by selling plots in fake housing societies illegally on government land.

The defence took the stance that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) does not have jurisdiction in the case.

A reference was heard in front of Karachi's accountability court regarding defrauding citizens by building illegal housing societies on government land.

Barrister Haq Nawaz Talpur, the lawyer of the accused Adam Jokhio, appeared before the court on his client's behalf. Barrister Haq Nawaz filed an application in the court, challenging the jurisdiction of the court in the case.

Stance was taken in the application that, after the amendments in NAB rules, the accountability court has no authority to hear the reference. The court adjourned the hearing on the petition till August 2.
