Acting Governor Sindh, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani on Wednesday inaugurated the 1,292nd Urs (anniversary) of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi by laying a floral wreath.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Endowments (Awqaf) Pir Syed Ahmed Raza Shah Jilani, Secretary Awqaf, Javed Sibghatullah, Chief Administrator Awqaf, Abdul Ghani Mehr and other officers were also present at the inauguration of Urs.

The acting governor offered Fatiha and special prayers for the development and prosperity of the country and the country and the province.

During the three-day Urs, there will be a Mehfil e Samaa after Isha prayer on July 20, Naat gathering after Asr prayer on July 21, and another Mehfil e Samaa after Isha prayer on July 22.

Later acting governor, while talking to the media, said that Sindh is the land of Sufis who preached love, brotherhood, peace and prosperity.

Some miscreants made unsuccessful plot to create linguistic riots in the province.

He further said that the killing of any human being is a sad and condemnable act, similarly damaging and burning anybody's property is also a condemnable act.

In response to a question, the he said that the government is trying to maintain peace and order.

He said that people from all over the country came to Karachi attend the Urs of the great spiritual saint Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi, therefore, the government has ensured effective security measures to protect the devotees.

In response to another question, he said that former president Asif Ali Zardari had done great work for the construction and development of this shrine.

He said that, "I am observing that elderly men and women here find it difficult to reach the shrine, "I will request president Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to arrange a lift or an escalator at the shrine so that the devotees can get some kind of relief and don't face any sort of problem."
