LAHORE:

Opposition lawmakers attending a Punjab Assembly session on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution against alleged horse trading, asserting that those making efforts to sabotage the PTI’s mandate will live in infamy.

Deputy Opposition Leader Mian Aslam Iqbal presented the resolution, stating that the federal interior minister and provincial home minister were using the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and police officials to pressure MPAs to refrain from voting in the July 22 election of the chief minister, which is being held as per instructions of the Supreme Court.

The resolution added that former president Asif Ali Zardari is present in Lahore to make some people change their loyalties with the help of his wealth. People’s loyalty is being changed, which is condemnable. The names of those who are making efforts to sabotage the system will remain infamous in history, it read.

Speaking about the resolution, the opposition lawmakers expressed concern over what they termed a political crisis being created by the PML-N.

MPA Ayesha Iqbal said that the election day would prove that PTI chairman Imran Khan’s 'soldiers' were with their leader.

Earlier, a parliamentary party meeting of the alliance was chaired by PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and PML-Q leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.

The leaders expressed optimism about their victory on July 22. They said the government had made every effort to break the unity of the PTI and PML-Q but they had proved futile.

“We, having the vision of Imran Khan, will have to move forward,” Qureshi said. Parvez Elahi said the result would come in favour of Imran Khan on July 22.
