Popular virtual meeting service Zoom has made changes to how long participants can hold a meeting for as the service will now automatically end meetings based on idle time, type of account and number of participants.

For free, licensed and basic paid accounts, the meeting session will automatically end after 40 minutes. This is inclusive of a host with up to one participant, even if a participant joins in before the host.

For paid licenses, the meeting will end after 30 minutes either active or idle, with similar conditions of host and participant presence. However, the meeting will end after 40 minutes if there is one host and one or more participants, and only one remains in the meeting at the end.

The meeting durations apply to paid users with a license or webinar license, and users with free licenses on Pro, Business, and Enterprise accounts.
