FAISALABAD:
Transporters in Faisalabad blocked the Narwala bypass for hours on Friday, objecting to the change of the Bedford Buses route.
The route for these buses had previously been from Bhawana to Faisalabad through Narwala Road. Protestors said this route was now only allowed for franchised buses, and this affected them financially.
The transporters would also need to cover an additional distance of 45km due to this new route. They said they would continue blocking the road unless their demand is met.
Secretary of the Road Transport Authority, Mian Mohsin Rasheed claimed the Narwala route had been given the 'Model Route' status which is why the bus-service was stopped.
