Twitter calls 'Kesariya' a copy of 'Laree Chootee', mocks it for 'Love Storiyan' lyric

While many had been waiting for the 'Brahmastra' track to release, several were left disappointed when it did.

The first song from Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra titled Kesariya has been trending ever since it released on Sunday. The track, sung beautifully by Arijit Singh, has been picturised on Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.

While many have been praising the song and were anxiously waiting for it to finally drop, others were left disappointed when it did. Not because it didn’t strike a chord with listeners, but because it was spoilt by two English words "Love Storiyan" that were meant to rhyme with Kesariya.

Twitter, of course, had a field day as memes dedicated to the number that Alia and Ranbir have described as their song, started pouring in. "Everything was going good in my life until I heard the word Love Storiyan in Kesariya," wrote a user, aghast.

Another compared the bit to Arturo's character from hit Netflix show Money Heist. A user even shared a picture of Rajkumar Rao, Akshay Kumar, Irrfan Khan, Varun Dhawan and Ayushmann Khurrana, to liken the term to Varun.

A tweep shared a visual representation of the term trying to fit into the song through a photo of a differently shaped brick sticking out of a pavement. “Love Storiyan part trying to fit into Kesariyan,” they wrote.

Another posted a photo of Nana Patekar’s iconic character from Welcome writing, “When Love Storiyan part comes in Kesariya, Arijit's fans be like: Seh lenge thora.”

 Moreover, many have also been comparing the track to Call’s Laree Chootee, the Pakistani hit that is also the soundtrack of Bollywood film Ek Chalis Ki Last Local. According to some users, the chorus of Kesariya is strikingly similar to that of the number. “Abe itna bhi copy mat karo (Now please don’t copy so much)” tweeted a user alongside a video compilation of both the tracks.

Another lashed out, “Absolutely ridiculous that Bollywood has banned Pakistani artists but keeps ripping off their music without crediting them. Music of Brahmastra’s song Kesariya seems to have been ripped off from Call the Band’s song Laree Chootee.”

In the first leg of the Astra universe of films, Ranbir Kapoor's character Shiva is a part of the mighty Brahmastra. He is represented by the element fire. Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna are the protectors of the Brahmastra, while Mouni Roy’s character leads the dark forces that wish to attain the Brahmastra.

The film is slated to release in theatres on September 9.
