Pending cases: Backlog at lower courts grows in July
The 28 additional district and sessions judges disposed of a total of 6,553 cases, leaving 15,802 pending.

The number of cases pending in the subordinate courts rose by 711 over the course of July, bringing the total number of pending cases to 15,979.
According to data available with The Express Tribune, the courts disposed of 6,888 cases in July.
District and Sessions Judge Mujahid Mustaqeem Ahmed disposed of 335 cases in July, leaving 177 cases pending. The 28 additional district and sessions judges disposed of a total of 6,553 cases, leaving 15,802 pending.
Of the cases that were disposed of, 2,710 were habeas corpus, harassment and directions to police cases, leaving 1,471 such cases pending.
Only 55 murder cases were disposed of, while 1,334 are yet to be decided. Not one of 401 pending insurance cases were disposed of, while 661 Hudood cases are still pending after 29 were disposed of.
