A-Levels student, call centre operator caught robbing people in DHA

Separately, muggers injure man on Khayaban-e-Shahbaz signal

KARACHI:

Two educated youths were arrested by the Defence police on charges of robbing people at gunpoint in Phase II of Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

Police claim that a mobile squad intercepted Asim, an A-Levels student and Faisal an English call centre operator, when they were robbing a motorist near Abu Bakr Mosque in Phase II DHA.

Police also claimed to have recovered firearms, cell-phones and Rs85,500 in cash from the suspects.

During interrogation, the arrested suspects confessed to committing several robberies across the city. Police have started checking criminal record of the arrested robbers after registering cases against them.

Meanwhile, Raju Tulsi, 27, was injured when suspected robbers riding a motorcycle opened fire near Khayaban Shahbaz signal in DHA Phase-VI.

In another incident, the Shah Lateef police have arrested three most wanted criminals. SSP Malir Irfan Ali Bahadur identified the arrested criminals as Siddique Circuit, Faisal Jaggo, and Salman Saloo, who were arrested with the help of CCTV footage. Two handguns, five cell-phones and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from their possession.

Police claimed that the criminals were involved in more than 60 street crimes which include looting more than 20 shops. Police further said that these criminals were so ruthless that they did not hesitate from opening fire on civilians during street crimes. Police registered a case and started further investigation.
