SHC accepts plea for hearing

Sindh govt, Karachi's administrator, District West's administrator named as respondents in petition

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has admitted, for immediate hearing, a petition against the damage to its building due to the flow of water, sewage and slush in the aftermath of the recent monsoon downspouts in the city.

The petitioner said that the historical building of the Sindh High Court ha been badly damaged by the heavy rains. He said that all those frequenting the building, including judges, lawyers and litigants, have to wade through rainwater and mud on the court premises to enter courtrooms.

The Sindh government, Karachi's administrator, District West's administrator have been named as respondents in the petition.

The petitioner claimed that the departments responsible for the upkeep of the building have made no attempt to address this serious issue.
