KARACHI:

Urging calm in the face of the provocations for ethnic strife in Sindh, the provincial information and transport minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said all political parties in the province wanted peace.

At a press conference at Circuit House in Hyderabad on Saturday, Memon said that together, all political parties will foil, what he described as, a conspiracy to trigger Sindhi-Pakhtun clashes.

The Sindhi nationalist leaders and Awami National Party's Shahi Syed were expected to attend the joint press conference. However, none of them turned up even though the conference was delayed for an hour.

Syed, reportedly met Memon at his Rawal House in Hyderabad while the nationalist leaders met in Jamshoro district under the aegis of Sindh Action Committee. ANP's Syed also met some nationalist leaders on Saturday in Hyderabad and Jamshoro.

"Those elements want to incite brothers to fights with each other," observed Memon, who on Friday blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for adding fuel to the fire. He reiterated that the killing of Bilal Kaka ata llocal restaurant along Hyderabad Bypass on July 11 was not an ethnically motivated murder, but it was aa fight among some individuals for personal reasons.

"Now that incident is being used to spark ethnic clashes in the province."
