MoU on technology zone signed

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) and University of Swat on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the university would provide land for establishing special technology zones.

Minister for Science and Information Technology Atif Khan and Higher Education Kamran Bangash were present at the MoU signing ceremony.

Speaking in the occasion, Atif Khan said that K-P government is setting up five special technology zones to promote information technology industry in the province.

He said establishment of technology zones will provide investment opportunities to the local and international IT firms besides employment opportunities for the locals.

He said that the development of IT industry will help support development of digital economy.

The minister said that progress was underway on IT flagship projects to make K-P a digital province as per vision of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, adding digital economy was a key component for development of any country.

He said that substantial amount had been allocated in the provincial budget for the development of technology and K-P government was providing vast opportunities to the youth in the field of IT sector to polish their talent.
