The death of Tanveer Jamal is tragic: Bushra Ansari
Veteran Pakistani actor and director Tanveer Jamal passed away battling cancer, reported Express PK. The veteran had been first diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and relocated to Japan for treatment. He was later diagnosed with the disease for the second time last year while shooting for drama serial Mere Apne. It was then that he had to be moved to Japan for the second time in May 2022.
This time, Jamal requested fans to pray for his recovery. In his fruitful career of 35 long years, Jamal played key roles in prominent dramas including Khalish, Zakham, Tasweer and Teri Raza, among others. Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has now expressed his grief over the demise of the renowned actor and producer. He also expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family. “May Allah Almighty place the soul of the deceased in mercy and grant patience to the bereaved. Hamza Shahbaz,” he shared with The Express Tribune.
Veteran actor Bushra Ansari, albeit, spoke about having worked with Jamal and the impression he left on him. “The death of Tanveer Jamal is tragic. He was in a lot of pain due to this disease and I saw him fight,” she said. “The last project I did with him was Mohlat and he was struggling because of his illness. He was a beautiful personality with a beautiful voice and I admired his will power since during the whole time we were shooting, he stayed committed to his work, despite how terrible he felt.”
Ansari went on to narrate how Jamal never lost his temper on set, even when he knew he would be excused due to his condition. “He would come to work after getting chemotherapy and taking a number of pills. Yet, he would never raise his voice due to the pain he was feeling. And now, after all that, he has left this world. So, I pray for his maghfirat. May he find peace in heaven,” Ansari concluded.
Known for his acting prowess in a career spanning over three decades, Jamal also received accolades for his compelling performances. As a producer, he even attempted to make a name for himself in Japan. "Tanveer Jamal was a well-mannered man and a talented person with a history of contributions to showbiz,” veteran actor Rashid Mahmood shared. “Being a producer, he even earned fame in Japan. But besides his work, he was a versatile person who could inspire generations,” Mahmood added.
Speaking at length about the kind person Jamal was, the actor concluded, “He had a sweet outlook and he’d always make an effort to make friends and unite people in the industry. Today is a sad day for everyone he helped bring together.”
Drama writer Asghar Nadeem Syed also spoke about the great friend, person and artist Jamal was. "Tanveer Jamal was a humble man, he was gentleman. As an actor and producer, he did quality work,” shared Syed. “He did a lot of sophisticated roles that complimented his personality. He also struggled a lot but that did not stop him from doing good work or some good in life. He went to Japan and tried to establish himself as a producer. He was among my good friends and in the friends’ circle, everyone called him Tony,” the writer added. Syed also shared that Jamal’s death came as a huge blow to everyone.
Actor Shiba Butt, on the other hand, recalled all of Jamal’s hits while mourning his passing. "Tanveer Jamal got fame during the era of PTV and spent decades acting and producing. He garnered a lot of popularity when he performed in drama serial Jangloos. His work is an asset for our darma industry and he played super hit roles in Jalta Suraj, Janum Jali, Jinnah se Quaid, Samjhauta, Babar among so many others.”
Jamal is survived by his Japanese wife and three kids.
