Young man killed for ‘honour’
Police have registered a case against a couple on the charges of being involved in the murder of a young man who the couple had suspected to be having an affair with their daughter.
Besides the couple, four other people have also been booked in the same case.
The case was registered on a complaint filed by Jaffar Hussain, who is the father of the victim, Nadeem.
The complainant told the police that on the day of the incident his son Nadeem had gone to visit his uncle, and on his way back home, accused Mazhar and Shahrooz, along with six other people, kidnapped his son.
The complainant alleged that the accused forced his son into their house where they subjected him to torture and then strangled him.
Jaffar Hussain told the police that the accused had killed his son in the name of honour because they had been suspecting him of having an affair with a relation of theirs.
This appeared to be second case of honour killing within the span of a couple of days.
A teenage girl and her friend with whom she was said to be having an affair were killed in what appeared to be a case of honour killing on the first day of Eid, police said.
They said that the mother of the teenage victim had forbidden her daughter from seeing the boy. However, the teenager defied her mother and continued to have a relationship with the boy.
On the day of Eid, the accused, Anwar Bibi, again objected to her daughter’s defiance. The two entered into a quarrel enraging Anwar Bibi to the extent that she allegedly strangled her teenage daughter, police said.
The teenager’s friend, not having an inkling of what had transpired, turned up at the girl’s house to see her clandestinely. He was allegedly caught and tortured to death by the girl’s family.
