‘Suggest any other name if you don’t like to be called a thief’, Gill mocks Iqbal
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill hit back at Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal over his criticism against former prime minister Imran Khan asking him to “suggest any other cute name if he does not like to be called a thief”.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday, Gill defended the Saturday’s incident wherein apparent PTI supporters heckled Iqbal and shouted slogans “thief, thief” while he was placing an order at a fast-food restaurant in Punjab’s Bhera city.
A day after the incident, the senior PML-N leader held former prime minister Imran Khan responsible for the incident, saying the PTI chairman “laid the foundation of hatred” in the country.
Gill said that some women and children saw Iqbal and shouted slogans of "thief, thief, which was their right”.
Responding to Iqbal's criticism that the incident was a result of the PTI chief’s teachings to his supporters, Gill asked: “Did Imran Khan also train Gullu Butt and others? The way you shot pregnant women in the face in Model Town, was it Imran Khan's training?”.
Referring to the minister’s recent controversial statement, the PTI leader also said the people will get angry when they are being asked to reduce tea consumption while the planning minister himself drinking
“No one has the right to physically attack you, but the law does not stop anyone from raising thier voice,” he added.
