Man stripped, tortured in front of wife

The in-charge of Qayyumabad police check post, Sub-Inspector Sarfraz, in a stark case of abuse of power, stripped a citizen in front of his wife and tortured him.

The video statement of the citizen, Noman Mehmood Ansari, narrating the episode of violence on him went viral on social media.

The victim filed an application in the Defence Police Station, seeking justice.

Taking notice of the incident, SSP Asad Raza suspended police post incharge Sub-Inspector Sarfraz and appointed Darakhshan SDPO as Inquiry Officer of the incident.

Ansari told the police that he was working as a labourer in Qayyumabad when the police took him to Qayyumabad police post and tortured him in front of his relative, Shahid and kept asking where he has hidden his sister-in-law, Shahid's wife.

According to the victim, the police also called his wife to the police station at night and tortured her while he was stripped naked in front of his wife and subjected to inhumane torture with plastic pipes and sticks.

According to the victim, "I was released at around midnight when lawyer, who happened to be a family acquaintance, made a phone call to the police."

According to the applicant, other unauthorised persons along with policemen at the police station also hurled profanities at him during the violence.

He said that his sisterin- law has approached the court for annulment of marriage and he is being unjustifiably accused of hiding his sister-in-law.
