Cattle trader shot dead
Despite the orders of the Karachi police chief to increase security at cattle market routes, criminal elements are still operating on the routes without any fear.
A man was seriously injured in firing on the Super Highway Jamali Bridge in the area of Site Super Highway Industrial Area police. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Siraj
SHO Site Super Highway Arshad Janjua said that the victim was a trader and was crossing the Jamal Bridge with his partner on a motorbike after selling his goats in the Asia cattle market located within the limits of Sachal police station.
That was when three unidentified assailants on a motorcycle tried to stop him with the intention of robbery. When the two victims did not stop, the armed assailants opened fire, seriously injuring the trader, while his partner remained unhurt.
The injured was rushed to a hospital where doctors confirmed his death.
SSP East Abdul Rahim Shirazi told the Express Tribune that the slain trader was selling animals in the cattle market, along with his colleague Azam, who is a police officer. The trader had 0.7 million in his possession. Police said that the slain trader was shot three times in different parts of the body. Police have seized bullet casings from the spot and are investigating the incident. They are also trying to contact the victim's accomplice.
It is hoped that the police will soon be able to arrest the culprits.
Two robbers arrested
Bilal Colony police have arrested two suspects for robbing people on their way to the cattle market to purchase sacrificial animals.
They caught the suspects with the help of CCTV footage. Police seized school bags, 10 snatched mobile phones, stolen cash and two pistols from Arif Jadoogar and Shebi, the arrested suspects.
According to the police, the arrested suspects’ targeted travellers going to the cattle market to buy sacrificial animals. During interrogation, the suspects revealed that they chose deserted places to loot the passengers travelling in private cars or loading vehicles to the cattle market.
They kept the goods or valuables they stole in school and college bags. The arrested suspects are habitual criminals and have been arrested before. They operate as a gang of four. Cases were registered against them and were handed over to the investigation police. At the same time, raids are being carried out to arrest other fugitives.
