Rain brings respite from scorching heat

Many localities witness power outages with first drop of downpour

KARACHI:

The weather turned pleasant in the port city on Monday with first shower of monsoon rains breaking the streak of many days of hot and humid weather.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Gadap, Super Highway, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Scheme 33, Gulshan-e-Maimar, Sohrab Goth, Ahsanabad, Saadi Town, Surjani Town, Taiser Town, Yousuf Goth, Malir, Quaidabad, and New Karachi among other areas of the city received the light to moderate showers.

However, many areas saw power outages with the first drops of rain. At least 400 feeders of K Electric tripped with the advent of rain.

There have also been reports of announced and unannounced power load shedding in other areas of the city, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir, Sharea Faisal, Baldia Town and Orangi Town.

There had reportedly been no intimation of rain or drizzling earlier from any of the aforesaid areas.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited various areas of the city for inspection of nullahs and rain situation.
