All depts working to curb dengue: minister

Seminar, walks organised to mark awareness day about disease

Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that dengue has claimed many lives and all departments of Punjab are working hard to control the spread of the disease.

Addressing an awareness seminar on the Anti-Dengue Day, he said he had learned a great deal about the disease during the Colombo International Conference in 2015.

Over 500 participants attended the seminar and the minister also led an awareness walk on the occasion.

He said it was very important to inform the people of Punjab about dengue. “Today is the day to educate the people about the prevention of dengue and coronary heart diseases and we have to convey this message from house to house.” He added that it is possible and essential to control dengue and coronavirus by taking precautionary measures.

Mobilising the people is very important in controlling any disease in the country, he said and added that as is the introduction of new technology for the eradication of dengue larvae.

Separately, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) organised dengue awareness walks to mark the occasion at various parks in the provincial capital.
