Political parties have demanded that the provincial assembly constituency in Musakhail district of Balochistan be restored.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has proposed a single constituency for Musakhail district and parts of Barkhan recently. Mushakhail is Pashto speaking district and Barkhan a Baloch district which has been combined in one constituency.
Balochistan National Party (BNP) and National Party, the two mainstream Baloch nationalist poltical parteis have also expressed their reservations about the delimitations in Quetta, the provincial capital.
BNP had also staged a protest demonstration outside the ECP in this regard.
“ECP must listen to our concerns,” Sardar Babar Musakhail, the acting Speaker Balochistan Assembly said at a crowded press conference on Friday evening at the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat.
Former provincial minister, Maulana Ghulam Sarwar and other political leaders from the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other political parties were also present on the occasion.
