FJWU takes part in Para Games
Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Rawalpindi took part in the Pakistan Blind Sports Federation's (PBSF) First Prime Minister National Para Games for Visually Impaired Athletes, which was held from June 25 to June 29 at the Sports Complex in Islamabad.
The PBSF serves as an umbrella organisation for the six federating units of Pakistan's regional and provincial blind sports associations. Since it was founded six years ago, the PBSF has worked to support visually-impaired students. This is the first time that the said event was held under the name of Prime Minister Para Games.
Around 120 athletes from all over Pakistan participated in this event. Contests in four disciplines, including athletics and judo, were held. The event was being organised with the help of the incumbent government and the students were given regular training, with the games kicking off from June 25.
FJWU Blind team players secured a total of six medals, one shield and participation certificates in the event. FJWU Director Sports Dr Sheikh Saeed Ahmad stated that the university is making efforts to upgrade its athletic facilities for the students.
