GUJRAT:

A 25-year-old woman who had had a case registered alleging that she had been gang-raped in several cities seems to have gone into hiding.

According to the DPO of Gujrat, Ata-ur-Rehman, after they had registered the case, they advised the alleged victim to go to the Darul Aman, but she declined the police offer and left with her lawyers.

After the case was registered, the woman turned off her phone and went into hiding.

Police were constantly trying to contact her, said the DPO.

The names and addresses of the accused had also been written incompletely in the FIR by the plaintiff, said the police official.

She had not yet provided samples to the medical officer due to which the medical could not be completed yet.

A police spokesman said that Kanjah police were investigating the incident from all angles. The law and justice requirements would be fulfilled in any case, said the spokesman. As per the case registered by the police, the woman had been allegedly raped by eight people.

According to police report, the 25-year-old woman, a resident of Thokar Niaz Beg, Raiwind Road, Lahore, had befriended a man who allegedly took her to Faisalabad with his friends under the pretext of marrying her there.

She was later taken to Kanjan where the principal accused, along with his friends, allegedly raped her for several days after giving her intoxicated drinks, said the report.

When her condition deteriorated the accused decided to take her to a hospital, but later changed his mind on way to the hospital and threw her along Dinga Road in Waraich Colony and fled.

In April this year, three men had allegedly gang-raped a widow in Khurrianwala.

According to the police report, in the case registered by the victim, it was stated that she was living in 203RB Mananwala because of her employment.

The accused, Emad and Samar Ali, came to the victim’s house on March 23rd at 3 pm, offering her a job as a maid in their relative's house.

The victim agreed and left her house with the accused. Instead of taking her to her new job, the accused took her to a house in Baowala, where an unknown suspect was already present.

They locked the door of the house and gang-raped the victim at gunpoint. According to the victim, they assaulted her one by one, hitting her with the butt of the pistol whenever she made noise. Upon filing of the victim’s report, Jhang Bazaar police registered a case against the two named and one unknown accused and started raids to arrest them.
