IG orders police to wear masks as positivity rate surges

As per notification, the body temperature of on-duty Police Personnel must be checked, using thermometer

Following the increase in corona cases in Sindh, the Inspector General has made it mandatory for police personnel to wear masks According to a notification issued, in view of the increase in Covid cases in Karachi, it has been made mandatory for police personnel to wear face masks while on duty.

The notification further said that the rate of coronavirus cases in Karachi has reached 21 per cent. The notification states that police personnel should maintain a social distance of 6 feet under Corona SOPs, use sanitizer and wash their hands frequently.

As per notification, the body temperature of on-duty Police Personnel must be checked, using thermometer. In this regard, an order has been issued to Additional IG, DIGs of Sindh Police on the orders of IG Sindh. The notification further said that the rate of coronavirus cases in Karachi has reached 21 per cent.

According to the data released by the Sindh Health Department, during the last 24 hours, 650 PCR tests were performed in Karachi out of which 138 cases have been reported positive constituting 21.23% positivity rate. In Hyderabad, 441 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours, out of which not a single positive case has been reported.
