31 vying for seat vacated after Aamir Liaquat’s death

PTI, MQM-P, APML, TLP in the run for the NA seat

KARACHI:

The Election Commission of Pakistan authorities have accepted the nomination papers of 31 candidates submitted for the by-election of NA-245.

The seat fell vacant on the death of Dr Aamir Liaquat.

According to ECP Returning Officer Syed Nadeem Haider, among the candidates whose papers were accepted in the scrutiny were PTI's Mahmood Baqi, Haroon Rasheed, Jamaluddin Siddiqui and Saleem Sachwani. Similarly, Shehab Imam, Afshan Qambar Ali, Kiran Masood, Moeed Anwar and Hafiz Mohammad of MQM Pakistan.

Shaheryar Khan, Muhammad Danish Khan, Farrukh Niaz Tanoli, Qamar Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Riaz of PPP, and Syed Hafeezuddin, Arshad Abdul Vohra and Hassan Sabir of PTI were cleared.

In addition, TLP's Shoaib, Ahmad Raza and Abdul Waheed, JUI's Ghias and Aminullah, PML N's Rao Jamil and Asad Usmani, Shahid of Mohajir Qaumi Movement, Mohammad Ahmad of Pakistan Muslim Alliance, Amir Zia of Aam Loug Ittehad, Sarmad Siddiqui of APML and independent candidates Dr Farooq Sattar, Mohsin Abbas, Salamat Khokhar and Shah Rukh.
