Police have intensified crackdown on street criminals, robbers, vehicle lifters and drug peddlers and rounded up a number of outlaws in different operations in city.

The anti-vehicle cell police in an operation in North Nazimabad arrested two car lifters - Kamran Ali and M. Adnan and recovered stolen cars and contraband from their possession.

According to police, the arrested accused Kamran Ali alias Langra is a habitual criminal. He was arrested and jailed in the past but did not give up criminal life after coming out on bail.

In Defence Phase 7, two suspects riding a motorcycle were fleeing after snatching cash and mobile phones from a citizen. Police patrol chased them but they opened fire to flee. Police retaliated and arrested Zubair and Shehriyar after and exchange of fire and recovered arms, mobile phones and snatched money from their possession. The arrested accused are said to be in critical condition.

In another incident, near North Karachi 4 intersection, police signaled to stop three suspects riding a motorcycle. The accused opened fire on the police. Police however arrested them, two in injured condition after brief encounter and recovered three pistols, eight snatched mobile phones and looted money from their possession.
