At least 11 arrested during search operation

Police have arrested a dacoit and recovered 15 tolas of stolen gold

RAWALPINDI:

Police on Thursday launched a search operation and arrested 11 accused besides recovering four Kalashnikov, four 12 bore rifles, two 30 bore pistols and a large number of bullets in Chontra and Chakri areas.

The search operation was launched on the special directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari.

According to a police spokesman, the search operation was conducted in Sangral area in the jurisdiction of Chontra and Chakri police stations under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Saddar Ahmed Zaneer Cheema.

Eleven suspects, namely Usama, Bilal, Asad, Zohaib, Irfan, Hamad, Waleed, Habib, Zuljosh, Shan Ali and Mohsin were sent behind the bars for possessing illegal arms.

The spokesman said that heavy police contingents, elite force, special branch personnel and ladies police under the supervision of SP Saddar conducted the search operation.

Dacoit held, gold recovered

Police have arrested a dacoit and recovered 15 tolas of stolen gold as well as Rs61,500 in cash from his possession here on Thursday, informed a police spokesman.

The accused broke the locks of a house and stole gold jewellery and cash in the jurisdiction of Waris Khan police station.

Waris Khan police arrested accused Shiraz with the help of modern technology and human intelligence.

SP Rawal appreciated the police team, saying that all legal requirements would be fulfilled to convict the accused. “It is the duty of police to protect the lives and properties of people,” he said.
