MUZAFFARGARH:

A rickshaw driver subjected a woman to physical assault on Thursday, making it the fourth consecutive incident of sexual violence in the district. Police said the offenders are still at large.

Police said the victim, a resident of Ihsan Pur, left for Daera Din Panah to collect a stipend for her children. She made the journey by a rickshaw owned by Muhammad Zafar.

In her complaint the victim maintained that the driver allegedly took her to his own home rather than her desired destination, where he allegedly raped her while an accomplice kept watch outside the house.

Police have registered a case against the accused after taking the victim's medical examination to prove the offence. This was recorded as the fourth consecutive incident of sexual violence reported in the district.

Police added that a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped on Wednesday when a rickshaw driver, identified as Muhammad Kamran, took her to Noor Kubra. Police said that they apprehended the alleged criminal after registering a case on the report of the victim’s father.

In another incident, a teenage girl was allegedly molested during her morning walk on Tuesday. The accused also allegedly killed her brother when the latter tried to restrain the offender.

Similarly, a woman was allegedly raped at midnight on May 13 in front of her children during a robbery.

Police have registered cases but the accused were yet to be arrested, with the exception of the arrest of Muhammad Kamran.
