Cop martyred in Tank attack
A constable of traffic police was killed when unidentified miscreants opened fire at two policemen in Tank district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Thursday.
Police told The Express Tribune that terrorists attacked two traffic police constables in Dabara, 15-km away from the main Tank city.
“One constable Mohsin Ali was killed in the attack and his aide Constable Muhammad Rasees was injured. One passerby Afsar Khan was also injured. Both the injured were rushed to the nearby hospital,” said an official of Tank police, adding that both the traffic wardens were on duty as per their daily routine.
A large contingent of police along with security forces was sent to the area who conducted a door to door search but the attackers had managed to escape after committing the crime in broad daylight.
“The injured have been shifted to Dera Ismail Khan Teaching Hospital while the body of the slain policeman has been sent for autopsy.
District Police Officer (DPO) Tank Waqar Ahmad told The Express Tribune that it was an act of terrorism and they had opened investigation in the case.
“Those responsible will soon be arrested and brought to justice,” he said, adding that several teams have been formed and assigned to investigate the case from different aspects.
The last rites of the slain cop Mohsin Ali were offered at Tank police lines with official guard of honour. Later his body was sent to his ancestral graveyard for burial.
It may be worth mentioning here that the body of a police constable of Frontier Reserve Police (FRP) was found in fruit orchard on the outskirts of Kohat district of the province a day earlier.
He had been stabbed to death by unidentified people who later dumped his body there.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Thursday condemned the terrorist attack in Tank and said that the entire country shared the grief of the family which lost a breadwinner.
