PRA asked to refrain from collecting tax from Cantt jurisdiction

RCB threatens to file contempt petition against Punjab Revenue Authority

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has asked the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) to refrain from collecting taxes within Cantonment limits.

RCB Chief Executive Officer Imran Gulzar executive officer has said that the cantonment board has its own tax recovery system and the taxes could not be collected simultaneously by two tax authorities.

The RCB chief executive officer while quoting the Supreme Court's decision in this regard has threatened to file a competent court petition if the PRA attempted to collect taxes from the Cantonment jurisdiction again.

The RCB chief executive officer has issued orders to stop the PRA from collecting taxes within Cantonment limits because “the Supreme Court has ruled that "PRA cannot recover taxes within Cantonment jurisdiction.

The RCB CEO has also instructed the legal adviser to contact PRA authorities and ask them to refrain from collecting taxes within Cantonment's jurisdiction.
