Mid-term polls: Nawaz’s demand a ‘mockery of democracy’

AJK prime minister says those dreaming to come in power should wait for 2013 elections.

ISLAMABAD:

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Saturday said the demand for mid-term elections by PML-N Chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was nothing but a mockery of democracy.

Talking to reporters at Kashmir House, Majeed said the people had given mandate to the PPP for five years and those dreaming of coming into power should wait for the elections that are to be held in 2013.

The AJK premier accused Nawaz Sharif of unleashing negative propaganda against national institutions. He said anti-democratic forces were continuously hatching conspiracies against the democratically elected government, but expressed the confidence that all such plots would be thwarted.

He said the lingering Jammu and Kashmir dispute had been bedeviling the relations between India and Pakistan for decades and called for settlement of the issue in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
