Nishtar-II wards to be ready this year
The emergency and outpatient department (OPD) wards in the under-construction Nishtar-II hospital will be operational by December.
This was stated by officials in a briefing given to Multan Division Commissioner Aamir Khatak during his visit to the site on Monday.
According to official sources, Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz tasked the commissioner to ensure completion of hospital project within the stipulated time period. Commissioner Khattak visited the site and sought a briefing on the pace of work.
He stated that Punjab government had released Rs6 billion for the Nishtar-II project. The new hospital is expected to reduce the burden of patients in Nishtar-I.
The officials stated that Rs9.4 billion was spent on the first phase of Nishtar-II, which was being constructed over an area of 58 acres. The work on installing electrical infrastructure was moving forward rapidly. Power generators, cooling system and UPS are also being installed.
During the first phase, the hospital will have 500 beds.
The commissioner also visited Nishtar-I and inspected the Mustafa Kamal Lecture Theatre Complex, being constructed at a cost of Rs250 million. He lauded the initiative and observed that smart classrooms were essential for modernising teaching techniques.
