Punjab cabinet to review budget proposals

Supplementary estimates for 2021-22 also to be approved

LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz will preside over a special meeting of the provincial cabinet on Monday, in which the budget proposals for the fiscal year 2022-23 will come under review.

In addition to the budget recommendations for the new fiscal year, the cabinet will also approve the supplementary budget of 2021-22.

The meeting will be attended by the provincial ministers, chief secretary and secretaries.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hamza stated in in his message on the World Day Against Child Labour, “The nations which pay attention to the education and upbringing of their children make progress in the world. To get laborious work from innocent children is equivalent to cruelty."

He said effective legislation had been done to eradicate child labour during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s rule in the province. Child labour in brick kilns had been eradicated to a large extent during the tenure, he said, adding that the child workers had been provided education facilities along with scholarship.

The CM claimed that the previous government had not paid attention to ending child labour and had spoiled the hard work done earlier for the purpose.

He vowed to work zealously to eradicate child labour, terming it a social and economic problem which many ramifications.
