Speeding dumper crushes two motorcyclists

Driver escapes, angry mob torches truck, burns tyres

KARACHI:

A speeding dumper hit a motorcycle near Saleem Centre in New Karachi area, killing two riders on the spot. The driver of the dumper fled the scene after the accident while enraged people set the truck on fire.

Citizens blame negligence of traffic police for the accident maintaining that speeding dumpers and other heavy vehicles including water tankers go unnoticed and unchecked while the entire focus of the traffic police is on stopping motorcyclists and cars for fines.

According to SHO New Karachi, Shahid Taj, the driver responsible for the accident managed to escape from the spot while enraged people set the dumper on fire. The police rushed to the spot and called the fire brigade in the meanwhile, the front part of the dumper was completely burnt.

According to police, the bodies of the deceased were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. They could not be unidentified immediately. However, their ages are said to be between 22 and 24 years. Police are trying to identify the deceased with the help of their motorcycle registration number and biometric system.
