CM urges lawmakers to check prices
Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz said on Thursday that the whole administrative and political machinery had been activated to provide relief to the citizens distressed because of increase in the prices of commodities.
He said in a statement that tasks had been assigned to the provincial ministers, elected representatives and political aides to alleviate the difficulties of the people.
The CM directed the elected representatives to visit every city to check the prices of edibles and ensure their sale to the people at the prices fixed by the government.
He said the performance of deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners would be judged in view of effective steps taken to control prices. Chief Minister Hamza said a monitoring process for the steps being taken for price control in every district had been put in place and reports regarding the activities in this regard in every district would be prepared.
He warned that any lapse in the price control efforts would not be tolerated and officials found negligent to take steps to provide relief to the masses would be held accountable.
The CM underscored that price control activities would be carried on continuously.
