PESHAWAR:

After a span of 32 years, the Chashma Right Bank Lift Canal Project was approved for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Express News reported on Tuesday.

The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives gave approval for the project.

Congratulating people of the province, especially those belonging to the southern districts, K-P Chief Minister Mehmood Khan said the project would not only be a milestone in the province’s agricultural self-sufficiency but of the entire country.

CM Mahmood highlighted that with the completion of the project, 300,000 acres of barren lands in southern districts would be irrigated and development of agriculture in the area would boost economic activities.

The chief minister regretted that the project had been delayed for the last three decades. “We have been working tirelessly for the last three years to get the project approved,” he said. “Through our tireless efforts, the CDWP finally approved the project.
