Nationwide volatility prompts tighter security measures

Officers, Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit personnel, remain alert- patrolling all mosques and Imam Bargahs

Security of the city’s sensitive locations, including mosques, Imam Bargahs, shrines, markets and sensitive installations remained tightened on the eve of Friday prayers.

CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamyana issued directions to DIG Operations Lahore, SSP Operations and all divisional SPs to ensure foolproof security arrangements in wake of ongoing nationwide political unrest. SSPs, SDPOs and related officers personally visited different areas of the city to review and ensure stringent security arrangements throughout the city, particularly at places of worship.

Police officers, along with Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit personnel, remained alert and conducted effective patrolling at all mosques and Imam Bargahs.

Police also checked all vehicles at entry and exit points of the city.

Moreover, search and sweep operations were also conducted around sensitive installations and important areas of the city. Contingents of Dolphin Squad, PRU, Elite force, security agencies and Lahore Police participated in the operations.

Lahore Police checked all suspicious persons in various parts of the city with the help of biometric technology and state-of-the-art devices.

According to a Lahore Police spokesperson, search operations were meant to create a sense of security among the citizens.
