A consultative meeting on development works was held at Village Council Hattar under the chair of Provincial Minister for Irrigation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arshad Ayub Khan’s Secretary Qazi Ijaz Ahmed.
The meeting approved Rs10 million for development works related to the completion of streets and sewerage lines for village Hattar Androon.
An amount of Rs2.5 million was also okayed for Dohrian Chowk while Rs2.5 million were allocated for Kotli Canal, Rs2 to 2.5 million for ongoing schemes in Mohalla Muhammad Ali Pasha, Rs2 million for Shadi village, Rs22 million for Hattar Family Park and about Rs20 million for various clean drinking water schemes.
All elected representatives from Hattar, including Village Council Chairman Chaudhry Zaheer Akhtar, former Nazim and General Councilor Malik Asim, General Councilor Syed Mazhar, Councilor Syed Imran Ali Shah, Malik Akram former Nazim Hattar, Village Council Chairman Shadi Malik Naheed.
Water shortage
The residents of Ghazi have urged Senator Pir Sabir Shah, Tehsil Nazim Qasim Shah to address the severe water shortage in Gandhinagar.
Water supply schemes have dried up and due to a lack of planning, drinking water has become scarce, they said, adding that hundreds of people are struggling to get water. Livestock and valuable gardens are all on the brink of destruction, they said. The residents who had sacrificed for the construction of dams and canals and heavy transmission lines but they are deprived of water.
They suggested that if a small canal, such as Pehur High-Level Canal is constructed from Tarbela Dam, it would transform the destiny of this area.
Three killed on road
Two people were killed while four others were injured when a rickshaw fell into a deep gorge near the Saji Kot area of the Nara police station.
According to Rescue 1122 sources, the accident occurred due to a sharp turn in which a member of the same family, husband Sardar Sabir, and his wife died on the spot, and their four children were injured. Upon receiving the information, Rescue 1122 reached the spot and shifted the injured bodies to the TPD Hospital Havelian.
The four injured children were declared critical, and after initial treatment, they were referred to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad.
Meanwhile, one man died while seven suffered injuries in road accidents that occurred in different parts of Khanpur on Friday.
The first accident occurred near Khoi Mira, where a truck rammed into a motorcycle, killing 38-year-old Shakeel on the spot.
In the second incident, 26-six-year-old Waqas was critically injured when two motorcycles collided with each other near SMT Hospital.
In the third accident, six people were injured in a road accident near a bus stop.
