WB offers solar energy project for villages
Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh presided over a meeting in the Sindh Energy Department’s office to discuss a project to provide solar electricity to Sindh’s villages in collaboration with the World Bank.
Representative officers of World Bank Reja Amatya, Nabin, and Oliver Knight attended the meeting on a video link, while Secretary Sindh Energy Abu Bakar Madani, Director Sindh Solar Energy Project, and other officers were present physically at the meeting.
The World Bank Officials presented their study report on how to provide economical and ecologically sustainable solar electricity to Sindh villages. One of the officials said, “Solar power might be the most cost-effective and convenient option to provide electricity to rural areas due to Sindh’s enormous solar energy resources.”
While addressing the meeting, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh stated that the project will initially be evaluated as a pilot project.
