A man allegedly fatally shot his brother-in-law and his friend. Police seized the bodies of the two victims, registered a case and started raids to arrest the accused.
According to the police report, in the case filed by Ghulam Abbas, a resident of Premier Mills Colony, Katchi Abadi, it was stated that his sister, Naseem Akhtar, had been married four years ago to Sultan Mehmood.
This was Sultan Mehmood's second marriage.
The complainant told the police that a year ago, his brother-in-law, Sultan Mehmood, became addicted to drugs due to which he used to torture his sister for no reasons.
He said that his sister, along with her son Kaif Sultan, was kicked out of the house by Sultan Mehmood on May 4.
“During this time we filed for annulment of marriage. So the accused, Sultan Mehmood, threatened to kill my sister,” the complainant told the police.
He said that they had had a case registered with the Factory Area Police Station upon being threatened by Sultan Mehmood. The registration of a case against the accused increased resentment between the two parties.
“Seven people, including my brother-in-law, Sultan Mehmood, Kaif Sultan, Liaquat Ali, Kashi, Jajji and Ilyas, got into a fight and opened fire. As a result, my brother Khizar Hayat, 22, and Ilyas, 32, were injured. They were rushed to the hospital in a critical condition where my brother Khizar Hayat and Sultan Mehmood's companion Ilyas died of their injuries,” said the complainant.
Upon receiving information, the SP of Iqbal Town, Hafiz Kamran, and other officers rushed to the spot.
They had the bodies shifted to the hospital for postmortem and registered a case against the fugitive accused and started searching for them.
In mid-May, a man killed his brother in Chak Jhumra over the issue of their sister’s marriage. Police said that the sister of 31-year-old Irfan, a resident of Malikpur Chak No. 203 RB, had contracted a love marriage against the wishes of her brother.
However, the girl’s other brother, Sajjad Hussain, defended her sister’s right to exercise choice in the matter of whom she married.
Thus there developed a rift between the two brothers, and they would argue over the matter off and on.
Irfan wanted to persuade his brother Sajjad to severe relations with their sister and brother-in-law while Sajjad would vehemently reject his brother’s demand.
Irfan, nevertheless, persisted in demanding of his brother to do his bidding.
The quarrel between the two brothers took an ugly turn, and Sajjad flew into a fit of rage and shot at his brother Irfan with a 30 bore pistol.
