Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman has said Pakistan is the third most water-stressed country and it needs to streamline mitigation with adaptation as mitigation cannot be done in isolation.
She met World Bank Country Director Najy Benhassine and discussed the ongoing projects in Pakistan.
The minister was briefed on the overall objective of the climate initiatives in Pakistan.
"Such programmes are extremely vital for the materialisation of our climate goals. We recognise that sufficient, reliable, clean and cost-effective availability of energy, water and food – for now, and in the future – is indispensable to ensure sustainable economic growth and development. We need to strive for a cleaner, greener Pakistan."
The minister also met with a Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) mission to the UN, composed of special representatives to the Director General Dan Gustafson and Green Climate Fund (GCP) unit head Nadine Valat.
