PM to consult stakeholders on charter of economy
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that he was starting a process of consultation with all political stakeholders to build a consensus on the charter of economy.
In a tweet on social media platform Twitter, he said, "In 2018, as leader of the opposition, I proposed the idea of Charter of Economy which was ignored with disdain by the then government.”
“It is need of the hour now. We are starting a process of consultation with all political stakeholders to build consensus on the Charter," he added.
In address to the nation on Friday, the prime minister said the charter was imperative so that no government could use the economy for the sake of politics, adding that he would reach out to all political parties for dialogue on the matter.

Meanwhile, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Saturday said the government would not hold talks with PTI Chairman and former premier Imran Khan until he "accepts defeat" and corrects his language and behaviour.
Imran, in a presser earlier in the day, said he was open to "every kind of negotiation" if it led to fair and transparent elections.
"Let him admit defeat first at least. He accepts defeat and changes his behaviour and his language then he will see we won't disappoint him," Marriyum said while responding to a question when asked why her government had a problem in accepting the former premier’s offer.
