CS orders speeding up drug-free Peshawar campaign

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Secretary Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash has directed speeding up anti-drug campaign to ensure a drug free Peshawar and to make the addicts useful and productive members of society by rehabilitating them.

The chief secretary issued these instructions on Friday during his visit to control room of Drug Free Peshawar Campaign in the office of DC and Al-Khidmat Drugs Rehabilitation Center Peshawar.

He was accompanied by divisional commissioner and deputy commissioner Peshawar, and officials of district administration and other departments involved in the operation.

While briefing chief secretary on the ongoing anti-drug drive it was revealed that in the first phase of the campaign more than 600 drug addicts including women had been arrested from different parts of the city, who were undergoing treatment in rehab center.

He was further briefed about the number of cases, identified hotspots for drug addicts, identification of addicts and modalities of their transfer to rehab center.

On the occasion, the chief secretary met drug addicts and enquired about facilities provided to them.

He directed the hospital management to provide best health facilities to the addicts and expressed satisfaction over the ongoing campaign.
