RAWALPINDI:

It is said that if one is sincere and dedicated to accomplishing their goals, anything can be done. Rawalpindi Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Syed Tauqeer Bukhari proved this by obtaining a doctorate (PhD) in Urdu while performing his gruelling duty.

Belonging to a middle-class household of Jhangi Daim village near the Chak Bailey Khan area of Rawalpindi, Syed Tauqeer Bukhari received his primary education at the Government High School Chak Bailey Khan, passed the intermediate examination from the Rawalpindi board and after joining the Rawalpindi police, he continued his education despite demanding duty hours.

He graduated from the University of Punjab in 2007, cleared his MA in Urdu in 2009 and MA in education from Allama Iqbal University in 2011. In 2011, he passed the direct recruitment test for the post of ASI under Punjab Public Service Commission with distinction and started serving the police as an ASI.

Meanwhile, he continued to pursue higher education and secured his MPhil in Urdu from the Islamic International University Islamabad in 2016 before pursuing and completing his PhD.

He lauded the role of his parents and teachers in helping him accomplish his education.

“All officers, including CPO Rawalpindi Omar Saeed Malik, played their roles in the journey.

He (Omar) not only supported me but also appreciated my efforts and it was he who encouraged me to complete my educational journey under difficult circumstances,” he said.

Dr Bukhari further said that studying was his passion. He said no challenge can dampen one’s spirits. He said that he spent his personal leisure time on his education and that he was proud to be a police officer as well as a PhD doctor.

“The police department has played every role in my development and success and I will try my best to play a responsible role in the development of the department,” he said. “The message for the department, including the youth, is that knowledge is a light, work hard to achieve it and if you want to make a name for yourself in any field, keep going,” he added.

Meanwhile, CPO Rawalpindi Omar Saeed Malik said that the entire force was like his children. “Just as a father is happy with the success of his children, so I was very happy at the securing of the PhD degree by Syed Tauqeer Bukhari because the police force has very few PhD degree holders in the society. I pay tribute to ASI Dr. Syed Tauqeer Bukhari who is a source of pride for the force,” CPO Malik said.

The CPO Rawalpindi further said that all facilities are being provided to the youth or officers who want to pursue further education in Rawalpindi Police and will continue to do so in future as well.

Malik also awarded a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize to Dr Bukhari for completing his PhD in the national language. He said that the Rawalpindi police would take full advantage of the talent of people like Dr Syed Tauqeer Bukhari.
