Relief camp established in Cholistan
On the Directions of Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Bahawalpur Corps chalked out a comprehensive plan to provide medical and relief facilities to the drought-affected people of Cholistan, in coordination with civil administration.
A free medical and drought relief camp was established by the Bahawalpur Corps at Chanan Pir, with 42-bed Heat Stroke Center.
As part of the joint operation, 3 mobile health teams equipped with heat stroke treatment facilities and water bowsers will visit 10 remote basis camps established for migrants in the Cholistan desert. These units will provide medical treatment and water to the population and animals.
Over 300,000 liters of safe drinking water were provided to 70 villages, along with the filling of locally-made water reservoirs. Over 5000 patients were treated and provided with free medicines so far.
Commander Bahawalpur Corps, Lieutenant General Khalid Zia, visited the Free Medical and Drought Relief Camp where he received a detailed brief from Army Officers and Commissioner Bahawalpur on relief measures. He assured locals of all possible support and assistance by the Army until Cholistan returned to normalcy.
