It's back! 'Midsummer Chaos' season 2 to drop this summer

You have to admit, the web series made waves on social media when the first installment hit YouTube last year

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably have come across writer and filmmaker Ahmed Sarym's web series Midsummer Chaos. The said series was all the rage on the micro-blogging website last year. Taking to Twitter, the youngster teased that the second season of the popular series will drop soon and social media users were quick to respond.

"Yup, it’s happening," the director shared on Twitter and seems like he has gotten another writer on board! "Midsummer Chaos season 2, this summer, with Ayesha Naveed," added Ahmed.

Midsummer Chaos introduced Mehar Bano, Saman Ansari, Mustafa Babar, Kamila Aazeen, Nael Aamir, Zainab Ejaz, Khushhal Khan, Mamia Shajaffar, and Hiba Ajaz in pivotal roles. We are yet to know who of the featured cast will reprise their roles for this new summer of blue-blooded adventures.

The series premiered in June of 2021, as a coming of age, five-part series that grappled with the lives of a group of elite teenagers in the midst of their 'wokedom' against the backdrop of elite Islamabad. The series relays the struggles of identity, self-awareness and romantic liaisons that transition and jump from scene to scene.

The show's conclusion last summer saw the rise of the audience reacting with curiosity, part humour and disdain at the privilege and money-centric storyline and lives of the characters. Instantly becoming meme-worthy, the trolls were out in full force and some of the reactions were actually hilarious.

Twitterati was hurried to their keyboards to share their reaction to Ahmed’s latest tweet with a mix of excitement, calls to be cast and others poked fun at the announcement. Love it or hate it, the show does have a fan base and has generated interest and garnered attention, so kudos to team chaos for keeping us hooked.

RJ Sabah Bano of City FM 89, tweeted rather hilariously, “Please make me a hot aunty - it's all I ask," penned the RJ.

One user was quick to take a jibe, tweeting back, “Take me in, I can do fake accents too."

While another user didn’t shy away from sharing their sentiments, “It shouldn’t happen.”

Another account replied, “When you make something so terrible it actually develops a fan base.”

“A new content coming for some lit memes," read another tweet.

Others responded with memes:

“Midsummer Chaos represents teenagers from affluent backgrounds who live in their own bubbles, projecting themselves in an exaggerated fashion because they’re still discovering who they are,” writer-director shared with The Express Tribune earlier.
