Another cop martyred in Peshawar firing
Yet another police inspector has been gunned down in front of his children by unidentified attackers on the outskirts of Peshawar on Wednesday. Police told The Express Tribune that Inspector Sahar Gul was a resident of Surizai village who was taking his children to school in the morning when terrorists intercepted his car and attacked him. “They opened fire at Sahar Gul, killing him on the spot.
His children are unhurt but the attackers managed to escape unchallenged after committing the crime,” he said, adding that Sahar Gul was an inspector of Frontier Reserve Police (FRP). SP Aqiq said that once again an AK-47 rifle had been used in the attack which indicated the involvement of the same group which had targeted SHO Shakeel on Motorway and two Sikh traders. “One group is behind all these attacks.
They typically use a white motorcar and the hit-man is armed with AK-47 rifle. The same group had attacked the IB inspector inside the walled city,” he said. Soon after the attack SSP Operation Haroon Rashid visited the crime scene along with SSP Investigation. He said that it was without any doubt a case of terrorism and investigation will be carried out on modern and scientific lines. The last rites of the slain inspector were offered at Malik Saad Police Lines with full guard of honour and attended by police high-ups, army officers, Mayor Peshawar and commissioner Peshawar.
Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has condemned the attack and expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of a precious life. He said that the entire nation was standing with the family of Sahar Gul at this time of grief. It may be recalled that on May 15 unidentified miscreants attacked two Sikh traders near their shops. They were riding a bike and used an AK-47 rifle. Then on May 19, in a similarly dare-devil attack SHO Shakeel was gunned down on Motorway.
He was on his way to police station in the morning in his motorcar and the attackers chased him in a white car and attacked him. A day before the attack at SHO, an inspector of IB was killed inside the city. He was a resident of Darra Adam Khel. Talking to reporters after the attack at SHO, IGP had said that TTP was not involved in these attacks and a separate group had been identified. He said that these miscreants would be arrested soon.
Police investigation teams claimed that the attackers were affiliated with ISISKhurasan and the same group was involved in the Kocha Risaldar suicide attack inside the old walled city in Peshawar. Interestingly on May 14 Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had claimed killing the mastermind behind Kocha Risadar attack along with another terrorist in a pre-dawn raid in Peshawar.
The terrorist was identified as Hassan Shah who was claimed to be involved in the March 3 suicide attack in Kocha Risaldar which had left 66 people dead and 130 more injured. The accused was said to be also behind the attacks at a Sikh herbalist Satnam Singh and Christian priest Waliam Siraj.
