‘Medicines shortage issue to be resolved’
The issue of shortage of medicines at the Nishtar Hospital is getting worse.
The shortage of medicines is especially acute in the emergency and labour departments.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Pakistan Medical Association has welcomed the appointment of Dr. Aamir Qayyum Khan as the MS of the Nishtar Hospital.
A PMA delegation, led by its president, Prof. Dr. Masood Al Rauf Hiraj, visited the Nishtar Hospital and met Dr. Aamir Qayyum Khan.
Later, the delegation briefed him about the problems at Nishtar Hospital, stating that there was now a severe shortage of medicines, which required immediate attention. They also said that a transparent, merit-based approach should be adopted for the recruitment of house officers.
The delegation informed the MS that prices at the Nishtar Hospital canteen were skyrocketing, and the administrative authorities should take immediate action to curb them because the overcharging was not only affecting the doctors, nurses and paramedics but also families of the patients.
According to the PMA delegation, AC hadn’t been installed, and doctors were also facing parking problems. The delegation urged the MS to upgrade the emergency department at the earliest.
