Not in favour of the opposition: Junaid Khan clarifies criticism against Imran Khan
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan recently irked many after a clip of him taking a jibe at PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif during a rally in Multan went viral on social media. In the aforementioned clip, the PTI chairman said that she might annoy her husband the way she repeats his name during her political speeches.
"Someone sent me a clip of Maryam's speech... Maryam took my name repeatedly so passionately that she should be careful… it might annoy her husband," Khan remarked as the attendees cheered on.
Soon after his statements, many called out Khan's misogynistic comments. However, singer-turned-actor Junaid Khan called out the PTI chairman over his remarks. "And what has Imran Khan done all these years in his rallies?" the actor responded on an Instagram post. "Talk about Sharif, Zardari, etc, etc, etc. Talk, talk and just talk. Now that Maryam is doing it, we suddenly make a mountain out of a molehill?"
His comments irked many as fans lamented over the comments of the former lead vocalist of Call band. Now, Junaid is setting the record straight. "Pointing out one politician doesn't mean I am in favour of the opposition," the actor tweeted.
He went on to add, "Let me clear this out. I am not in favour of either and I have no interest in politics. True progress starts with individual progress. We as individuals should give our best in our respective fields, work hard and excel and inspire others around [us]. This country will not progress if you JUST believe in politicians. It never did. It will progress if you believe in yourself."
