Over 4,000 patients, including women and children, were provided free of cost medical treatment at the Frontier Corps (FC) medical camp in Balochistan's Dera Bugti district on Monday after the outbreak of cholera claimed over two dozen precious human lives in the Pir Koh area.
The Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), UNICEF, and FC have also been providing medicines to patients in the Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti district, an official handout issued said.
"We have already imposed a medical emergency in the district," Balochistan Health Secretary Saleh Nasar said.
Nine hundred and seventy-two cases of typhoid were treated and the rest were treated for other diseases. More than 162 lab tests were performed in the last 24 hours.
One hundred and twenty-four water bowsers are working to provide clean water to the local population and during the last 24 hours, 598,000 litres of water was distributed in 54 affected villages. A team of army engineers has started a survey for the excavation of sacks of PSDP water supply scheme projects.
Secretary Nasar stated that the provincial government provided additional funds and medicines to the Pir Koh and other areas of Dera Bugti to support the people in this hour of trial.
