South Punjab Agriculture Secretary Saqib Ali Ateel announced on Monday that cotton had been cultivated over 3.6 million acres across the province, which constituted 90% of the target. The agriculture secretary expressed those views in a meeting held at the Mango Research Institute. He said that cotton sowing was still underway and the target would be achieved easily due to the availability of water. Moreover, the secretary apprised the meeting that 121 demonstration plots had been established across south Punjab, adding that integrated pest management (IPM) was being used to control the harmful insects.
