LAHORE:

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti gave an ultimatum to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), telling him that the “IGP, CCPO and others will be no more in service” if the abducted girl student was not recovered by 10pm tonight.

The LHC Chief Justice took notice of the girl’s abduction, who was abducted from Shadbagh police precincts when she, along with her brother, was returning home on a motorbike after appearing in her matric exam.

As the proceedings commenced on Sunday night, the IGP, the CCPO of Lahore and other officials appeared before the court. The Chief Justice came down hard on the police high-ups over their failure to recover the girl. The IGP told the court that the police officials had been searching for the girl in Sahiwal.

It irked CJ Bhatti who said, “How the girl could be taken to Sahiwal from your hands”, and the police officials just rendered their role of silent spectators. “I will write to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to remove you people from your service,” CJ Bhatti said.

The Chief Justice, while addressing the IGP, said that the girl who had been abducted was like my daughter and “you should also consider her as your daughter. You should have closed down all the routes”.

At which the IGP accepted the failure. The girl must be recovered till 10pm this night, the CJ remarked. The IGP sought some time for the recovery of the girl. However, the Chief Justice adjourned the proceedings for 10:30pm.

After resuming proceedings on the said time, the IGP told the court that the abducted girl had been recovered from Arifwala. The girl’s father and uncle were also present in the courtroom. The Additional AdvocateGeneral of Punjab, Jawad Yaqoob, told the court that the girl had spoken with her family through a video call.
